Andreas Fuchs – Lighting Designer


Andreas Fuchs has been working as a lighting designer since 1989. He has collaborated, among others, with Claus Peymann, Stephan Bachmann, Daniel Libeskind, Aletta Collins, Herzog & de Meuron, Vera Nemirova, Bolshoi Ballet, Martin Wuttke, Giorgio Armani, Volker Schlöndorff, Rebecca Horn, Runar Hodne, Tomo Sugao, Gil Mehmert and Richard Jones.

Since 1992, he has worked as lighting designer on more than twenty-five productions with Robert Wilson, touring worldwide with Wilson’s directing works Dr. Faustus Lights the Lights, Hamlet: A Monologue, Une Femme Douce and Dreamplay. In addition, he designed the lighting for Wilson’s productions of Three Sisters, Der Ring des Nibelungen, Die Frau ohne Schatten, Leonce and Lena, The Threepenny Opera, Shakespeare’s Sonnets, and The Girl with the Matches.

The work of Andreas Fuchs has been seen worldwide at venues and festivals including the Monte Carlo Opera, Festival de Théâtre des Amériques Montreal, Salzburg Festival, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Opéra Bastille Paris, Berlin State Opera, La Monnaie Opera Brussels, Zurich Opera House, Venice Biennale, Hong Kong Arts Festival, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Royal Opera House London, National Theatre Oslo, Glyndebourne Festival, Dramaten Stockholm, Lincoln Center New York, and Ruhrtriennale.

Since 2005, he has worked as production and lighting designer for the tours and concerts of Marius Müller-Westernhagen, including the MTV Unplugged recording.

In 2014 he did the lighting design for the world premiere of the musical Das Wunder von Bern for Stage Entertainment in Hamburg.

Lighting Design for Live TV Productions: European Film Awards 2008–2014, UEFA Final Draw Paris 2015, FIFA Congress and Opening Ceremony in Munich 2006, UEFA Champions League Draw in Monaco 2024–2026.

Andreas Fuchs also designs lighting for architectural projects such as the Museum for Communication and Technology in Hamburg and the Contemporary History Forum in Leipzig, as well as for international corporate events, including projects for Škoda, Samsung, Universal Music, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Bayer, YouTube, Siemens, SAP, and Bosch.
